About The Monster

The Annekenstein Monster was birthed onto the stage of OffStage Theatre in Charlottetown in 1991. A mute, stitched-together satire of a certain red-headed orphan, the Monster spent seven summers “lovingly lampooning all things Prince Edward Island” in the sketch comedy revue, Annekenstein. Its debut act of Island Hospitality? Lovingly hugging a tourist family of four to death.

I performed the character myself and co-wrote the sketches that defined its early years. After years of silence, the braids have been re-plaqued and the bolts tightened. The Monster finally, once again has a voice, and it has a few things to get off its chest.

Honest, Eminent, Keen Rants

If you rearrange the letters of The Annekenstein Monster, you find the blog’s guiding philosophy. This is a digital laboratory for pithy observations and comedic deep-dives into the absurdities of life—like the time two teenagers stood on my doorstep at 11:30 PM on Halloween and aggressively shouted, “We’re not going to murder you, we just want candy!” This blog is the candy. And we aren’t going to murder you. Probably.

From the Archives & The Lab

After a brief period of dormancy, the Monster is being reanimated. While the blog serves as a home for my “eminent rants,” it is also becoming a multimedia archive. You can expect to find:

  • Archival Sketches & Scripts: Satirical relics from the Annekenstein and Sketch-22 years and beyond.

  • Music & Lyrics: Original songs and compositions, ranging from the comedic to the curious.

  • Short Stories & Video: Visual experiments and fictional forays.

This isn’t a portfolio or a professional resume—it’s a showcase of the satirical spirit that started in a Charlottetown theatre and refused to stay buried.

Don’t miss a single reanimation.
